LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY (LANL), LOS ALAMOS, NM

  • RLW Project: Conducted risk/opportunity assessments for two high-priority projects for the Radiological Liquid Waste (RLW) Treatment Facility that would permit the facility to resume treatment and disposal of liquid transuranic waste. Also, performed life cycle cost analysis and a value engineering study.
  • Facility Design Charrette: Engineers facilitated a two-day value engineering design charrette for the Transuranic Liquid Waste facility to be constructed at the LANL. The charrette involved input from over fifty individuals.
  • Safety Basis Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Technical Services: Awarded prime contract to ensure that the safety basis for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities was established and maintained.
  • Safety Basis Management Technical R&R: Conducted a high-level analysis of the LANL Safety Basis organization to improve performance such that LANL commitments could be met with current staff and funding, while allowing employees to grow professionally in their areas of interest.
  • PFP Alternative Exhaust Conceptual Design – RLWTF-UP: Provided guidance and expertise to the integrated project team associated with the Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility Upgrade Project (RLWTF-UP). Value engineers successfully led the team through a VE-decision making process (charette workshop) to evaluate the best design alternatives that would optimize the Low Level Waste (LLW) building layout for treatment of LLW as part of the RLWTF-UP at the LANL. Also led the project team in determining alternatives that would optimize the site layout and location of the Central Utility Building and effluent tanks.

Y‐12 NATIONAL SECURITY COMPLEX, OAK RIDGE, TN

  • SIP Risk/Opportunity Assessment & Value Engineering: Conducted two studies for Y‐12’s Security Improvement Project (SIP) to meet the future security needs of the Y‐12 site and one study for the Uranium Processing Facility.
  • Value Management Analysis for CNUUP: Provided value engineering expertise to the Critical Nuclear Facilities Upgrade Project (CNUPP) Value Management Analysis (VMA) by guiding the project team’s decision-making process to determine the most appropriate course of action for each of six critical Utility and Infrastructure upgrade tasks that are vital to sustaining Y-12’s core mission.

PANTEX PLANT, AMARILLO, TX

    • Project Execution Plans: Reviewed existing SS‐21 Project Plans for the B61, W80, and W88 SS‐21 projects for compliance with NA‐12 expectations for project management in alignment with the principles of DOE O 413.3 and M 43.3‐1. Briefed personnel on changes needed to bring project execution into compliance with the orders. Assisted the NNSA Project Leads and teams in developing the Project Execution Plans, focusing on establishing scope, cost, and schedule baselines, work breakdown structures, interfaces, change control, and risk management.
    • Professional Staff Augmentation: Providing Field and Fire Protection Engineering staff and Project Controls/Project Management Augmentation to Pantex Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC (CNS).

DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY (DOE)/HANFORD MISSION SUPPORT ALLIANCE (MSA), HANFORD, WA

      • Infrastructure and Services Alignment Plan: Provided consulting services to MSA in developing an Infrastructure and Services Alignment Plan (ISAP) for the last three plan developments.  The purpose of the plan was to create a system for identifying existing and projected gaps in services and infrastructure based on input from MSA, other Hanford contractors, and DOE.
      • Professional Staff Augmentation: Provided professional staff augmentation services, such as engineering, systems engineering, and other professional expertise to Hanford.

SAVANNAH RIVER SITE, AIKEN, SC

      • Mobile Plutonium Facility (MPF): Provided technical expertise for rapid deployment of the MPF at the Savannah River Site (SRS). Worked with DOE, Department of State, and multiple contractors to ensure the facility and ancillary equipment and supplies are secured and ready for deployment to foreign countries.
      • System Engineering and Project Risk & Opportunity Management: Provided systems and value engineering support to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions at SRS.
      • Professional Staff Augmentation: Providing professional staff augmentation services, including technical writing, engineering, waste characterization, systems engineering, training, and environmental compliance expertise to SRS.

KANSAS CITY NUCLEAR SECURITY CAMPUS (KCNSC), LLC., KANSAS CITY, MO

      • KCNSC NSE Directive Reform: Performed a comprehensive, integrated, interdisciplinary NNSA Assessment and Review. Developed a high-level training program with the following modules: operating requirements/directives, contracts reform/review, performance evaluation plan, and management assurance system.

IDAHO NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING CENTER, IDAHO FALLS, ID

      • Crane Availability Improvement: Facilitated and participated in team as a Subject-Matter Expert on a team that developed a strategy to increase availability of the Irradiated Fuel Storage Facility cranes.

WEST VALLEY DEMONSTRATION PROJECT (WVDP), WEST VALLEY, NY

      • WVDP Canister Relocation & Storage Vendor Evaluation (Value Engineering): Provided an independent facilitator and structured decision-making approach to assist West Valley in choosing the best vendor to perform High-Level Waste Relocation and Storage.

DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY/COLLEAGUE CONSULTING

      • Systems Engineering Training: Developed a complete, copyrighted Systems Engineering Training course for Colleague Consulting, including presenter and course participant materials. Engineered Resources provides training based on the course as needed for Colleague Consulting.

NORTHRUP GRUMMAN TECHNICAL SERVICES, INC

      • Domestic Consulting Services: Provided strategic planning assistance to Northrup Grumman in regards to pursuing work with DOE and NNSA. Assistance included development of bid strategies, gathering of marketing information, collecting of reference material, and overall bid preparation.
